The Village Project has helped me tremendously of realizing partly what it is going to be like to be a teacher. I really am thankful to have the experience that I have gotten from it. It has taught me a few things I will takeaway and use in my future. I will list my top ten most important takeaways down below.
- Setting classroom rules in the very beginning
- Having expectations and carrying them out
- Briefly talking to each student to see how there day has been going
- Connecting with the students and getting to know them personally
- Have an understanding of there background and home life
- Making activities seem exciting
- Engaging students to learn
- One-on-one interactions shows students you care and want to help them
- Awarding students for working hard and good behavior
- Having a set routine for each day so students know what to expect
